چکیده

There are a large number of software organizations that have been certified under ISO9000. Many of these now want to move to the Capability Maturity Model (CMM). This article discusses the possible gaps in the processes of an ISO organization with respect to the CMM, and how an organization can move from ISO to higher levels of the CMM. It is based on our experience of successfully transitioning from ISO to level 4 of the CMM in less than one year.

Measurement Maturity and the CMM : How Measurement Practices Evolve as Processes Mature CHARLES WEBER AND BETH LAYMAN

Engineering Institute’s Capability Maturity Model for Software® (CMM®) often struggle with the apparent paradigm shift as they transition from levels 2 and 3 to levels 4 and 5. At levels 1 and 2, the measures are primarily status measures (for example, actual values vs. planned values). At level 3 defect measures are added. Then at level 4 there is a drastic change in measurement terminology, u...

Higher CMM Levels Attained by QA Certified Software Developers

This paper addresses the question: is higher capability maturity associated with adoption of Quality Assurance (QA) certification? To assess the extent of adoption of third-party QA certification by Australian software developers, a survey of 1,000 software developers was recently conducted. The questionnaire also included an assessment of their capability maturity based on the capability matur...

Software process improvement (SPI) is a current topic in software engineering community. Most organisations, in order to maintain their competitive edge, plan or are in progress to apply SPI with the desired results of predictability in the software development considering time, cost, and quality. SPI effort can take many forms, e.g. it can be based on a road map like Software CMM, SPICE, ISO90...

In the last two years, a few organizations with proc...
